The Ghost Residency is a competitive 9-month internship for graduate architects offered by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects. The successful applicant will work directly with Brian MacKay-Lyons (Royal Architectural Institute of Canada 2015 Gold Medal recipient/Royal Institute of British Architects International Fellowship recipient) in the apprenticeship model in the master builder tradition.

This residency is based in Lunenburg County on the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia – the satellite office of MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects; the site of the legendary Ghost Architectural Laboratory; and in the historic village where many of the firm’s best known projects continue to be built. This is the research workshop for our house design practice.

The intern will participate in all aspects of the design process as well as daily chores at the farm with Brian. Accommodation on site is provided. The intern will receive an honorarium commensurate with their experience level. Information on the Ghost Residency 2025 will be announced at a later date.
